Start with your present employment. Give details of your current position and work backwards in listing previous jobs. If you’re applying for your first job, write down any relevant experience.
Be specific Tell your prospective employer your achievements rather than your responsibilities. Write down what you’ve done.
Be clear Use active words (e.g. achieved, created, enhanced, negotiated). Simple statements are most effective, such as ‘I achieved sales objectives of 250 units a month’.
Be brief Don’t pad out your CV with unnecessary detail.
Be honest Don’t exaggerate your experience to make it sound more impressive. If it can’t stand up to scrutiny in the interview, DO NOT INCLUDE IT IN YOUR CV.
Be correct Spelling mistakes and typing errors indicate sloppiness. Check what you’ve written carefully.
Check with referees Before you use anyone’s name, ask them.
CV Wizards can be found in the START task bar on a computer (Windows PC), go to All Program, then open the “New Office Documents”, the cv wizards are under the “Other Documents” tab.
